Nintendo Specifically Bars Japanese Partners From Working With Yakuza – IGN

Nintendo has an official clause in its contracts that stipulates any Japanese developers or publishers it works with cannot be tied to the Yakuza.Documents and details about the inner workings of the games industry are currently being revealed as part of the ongoing Epic Games vs Apple trial. A highly confidential and heavily-redacted Nintendo document has been doing the rounds as a result. Within that document is a section on “Anti-Social Forces,” spotted by Stephen Totilo of Axios Gaming.

The document notes that if a ‘Content Provider’ is based in Japan, it can not be an “Anti-Social Force” or “Boryokudan” (a Japanese term that means ‘violence groups’, or organized crime groups). Effectively, the document imposes a black and white ban on partners working with the Yakuza. If the developer or publisher wishes to work with Nintendo, they are also not allowed to ”give monetary benefits to an Anti-Social Force,” “use threat or violence in connection with transactions” or “interfere with the business of Nintendo Entities by spreading false rumours, using fraud or force,” the document reads.

Of course, this doesn’t bar Nintendo from working with game studios that are making games about organized crime groups in Japan, such as Ryu Ga Gotoku’s Yakuza series. However, In the past, Yakuza series producer Daisuke Sato has said that the Nintendo Switch is not the “ideal“ platform to develop Yakuza games on.

‘Ghost Trick’, ‘Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies’, and ‘Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice’ Have Been Updated for iOS 14 and Are Back on the App Store

‘Ghost Trick’, ‘Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies’, and ‘Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice’ Have Been Updated for iOS 14 and Are Back on the App Store

Back in January this year, Capcom announced that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice ($0.99), Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies ($0.99), and Ghost Trick (Free) have been pulled from the App Store for “various reasons”. At the time, there was an issue unlocking the paid DLC in-game. The games were still functional but were pulled for new purchases. Today, all three games have returned with support for iOS 9 to iOS 14.4.2 (and iPadOS) as a nice surprise for when I checked my phone for updates. Ghost Trick and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice even mention display issues on certain devices being fixed while Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies just has the iOS 9.0 to 14.4.2 support mentioned.

If you’ve been playing Capcom games on iOS and iPadOS over the years, you are well aware of the company’s support or lack thereof for certain games. This recent delisting isn’t even the first time Capcom has pulled Ghost Trick. I tested all three games on my iPhone 11 and iPad Pro on iOS 14.5.1 and they worked fine. I also restored in app purchases after deleting and downloading Dual Destinies on both iPhone and iPad. Now that these three games are back and updated, I hope Capcom will consider bringing Monster Hunter Freedom Unite back for new purchases. It is very disappointing that the older Monster Hunter games aren’t available on modern platforms. It is going to be interesting to see if Capcom brings The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles to mobile eventually since the ports exist in Japan and a new localization is on the way for July on consoles and PC. Did you play Ghost Trick on iOS or Nintendo DS originally or if you haven’t, are you planning on buying it on mobile?

How to Get the Mythical Spear Gae Bolg – Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Wiki Guide – IGN

Last Edited:

A Scourging of Snakes is the penultimate (second to last) story quest in the Wrath of the Druids DLC. This is the only time you can kill The Oak, the leader of the Children of Danu. Check out the guide for A Scourding of Snakes in our Wrath of the Druids Walkthrough.

Complete the Quest Children of Danu

You must eliminate all 10 Children of Danu to unlock the quest Amber Sun. The Children of Danu quest becomes available upon completing the story quest, Potion of Blood. You can kill most of the Children of Danu without having to do any other quests. However, you’ll be unable to complete the Children of Danu quest until you’ve killed The Oak in the quest, A Scourging of Snakes. Check out the Children of Danu – Locations and Guide page for the quickest ways to find and kill all the Children of Danu!

Amber Sun – Return to Deirdre

Once you’ve killed all the Children of Danu and collected the 10 Bloody Amber shards, you’ll unlock the quest Amber Sun. To begin the quest, deliver the 10 shards to Deirdre at her house in Asfinn. Deirdre will use the shards to create a special potion that will allow you to fight Balor. You don’t have to fight Balor right away though. Deirdre will ask you if you’re ready to fight. If you chose no, you can return to Asfinn later and speak to Deirdre again to begin the fight when you’re ready.

Defeat Balor

advertisement

Balor, champion of the Fomorians, is said to be the embodiment of the sun’s power itself. He’s killed all who have challenged him and continues undefeated to this day. With the help of the mythical spear Gae Bolg, Cu Chulainn was able to wound Balor before perishing. The spear, Gae Bolg, remains pierced in Balor’s back. Eivor can attempt to defeat Balor to retrieve the weapon.

Balor has a power level of 469! He’s giant and wields a sword just as big as he is. His size doesn’t impair his speed. He’s still super fast and can swiftly leap and dash across the arena. Remain locked-on Balor to see his movements. His giant sword also makes him have to do a giant windup before using it. Use this to your advantage!

Don’t bother blocking or parrying. Most of Balor’s attacks will bulldoze through even heavy shields, so ignore using a shield. Prioritize the lack of a shield by dual-wielding another weapon on your second hand or leave it empty to maximize your speed. The best defense against Balor is to dodge and evade his attacks. Then strike him after he’s missed you. The Brush with Death skill is super useful here. It slows down time briefly if you dodge just before an attack lands on you.

Note: Balor talks a lot of smack about being the wrath of the sun, but none of his attacks can burn you. Not only that, you can use fire attacks (like runes or abilities that ignite your weapons) to burn him! He’s also susceptible to poison. Poison and fire attacks are great ways to chip away at his health during the course of the battle.

Balor Unmasked

Once you’ve depleted about a quarter of Balor’s health, he’ll remove his mask and switch up his attacks. His sword can unleash magic attacks. These come in two forms. One is a large circle around Balor, and the other is a straight sword slash across the arena. The area that they’ll impact will glow! When you see these coming, dodge!

He’ll also shoot a light beam from his face for a few seconds. He’ll chase you down with it. The stone pillar in the area will not provide you with much cover because the beam destroys them fairly quickly. Your best defense here is again to dodge and keep moving. Once he stops, you can attack again.

After removing his mask, you’ll be able to see Balor’s three weak points with your bow. Shooting all three will give you a small window of time to do a stun attack that’ll do some decent damage. You do not need to hit these weak points to defeat Balor. They’re just additional weaknesses that you can exploit to damage him. The three weak points are on: his back (where the spear is), his left knee, and his right elbow!

Once you’ve defeated Balor you’ll earn Gae Bolg! It creates a lightning strike that shocks the enemy after 3 consecutive hits! This inflicts a great amount of stun damage! The consecutive hits count even if you strike the enemy’s shield! Once you’ve received your weapon, speak to Deirdre to complete the Amber Sun quest!

Weapons

Knife

LocationNotes
First Survivor House in the VillageCan be used to break boxes, attack enemies

The Knife is your one true melee weapon in Resident Evil Village. While it doesn’t deal a ton of damage and can’t be upgraded, it’s essential for breaking item crates and fending off enemies when you run low on ammo.

You’ll find it on a desk as soon as you enter the first house in the middle of the village, just before the kitchen. If you somehow miss picking it up, you can also buy it from The Duke if needed.

LEMI Handgun

LocationNotes
First Survivor House in the VillageGiven by old man, can be upgraded at the Duke‘s Emporium

The LEMI Handgun is a semi-automatic pistol that deals a fair amount of damage, and can be upgraded by The Duke. While it doesn’t boast a huge damage output, and has no automatic fire, its single shots can be fired with precision – and you can fully upgrade it over the course of your adventure to keep it as your reliable sidewarm.

This weapon cannot be missed, as it is handed to you by the first survivor you meet in the Village.

M1897 Shotgun

LocationNotes
East Old TownAfter hearing survivors on the radio and heading into the next area, you’ll find this weapon in a house with Lycan’s watching you from on top.

The M1897 Shotgun is a pump action shotgun that can output some extreme damage, especially at close range. While it has a slow rate of fire, it’s other aspects can be upgraded to compensate.

It can be found in the East Old Town after leaving the house with the first survivor. Once you survive the initial Lycan attack, head out of the barn and to the nearest house on the left (the ones a few Lycans will watch you from on the rooftops). The shotgun is inside on the kitchen table.

If you forget to pick it up before leaving the area, you can still buy it from The Duke.

Samurai Edge – AW Model-01

LocationNotes
Available in The Duke‘s EmporiumPowerful customized handgun which uses anti-bioweapon technology left by Albert Wesker. (Bonus from the Trauma Pack)

The Samurai Edge is a powerful custom handgun that is only available as part of the Trauma Pack DLC. It can be heavily upgraded to deal powerful shots at targets.

As it is only available through DLC, you can purchase this item from The Duke when you first meet him outside Castle Dimitrescu, and anytime after that.

F2 Rifle

LocationNotes
Castle Upper FloorFound before you exit through an attic window onto the upper balconies of the castle

The F2 Sniper Rifle is the only scoped rifle weapon available in the game, and delivers high-powered shots that can puncture armor and deal heavy damage to any enemy you shoot at. It can even be further improved by the Duke to deal even more damage with a better rate of fire.

This weapon can only be found in the Attic of Castle Dimitrescu, and is hard to miss. After arriving in the attic up from the Atelier, you’ll find it at the end of the narrow hall on a chair before turning left to exit out onto the rooftops.

Pipe Bombs

LocationNotes
Can be found randomly around the village or bought from The Duke‘s EmporiumYou can also buy the recipe from The Duke for crafting

Pipebombs are an explosive device that can be used to punch a hole in a group of enemies, and can shatter enemy armor and weak walls alike with explosive force.

Best used against groups of enemies or against armored targets, Pipe Bombs can be made via crafting, but will also occasionally be found as you explore, and eventually sold by The Duke.

Mine

LocationNotes
Can be found randomly around the village or bought from The Duke‘s EmporiumYou can also buy the recipe from The Duke for crafting

The Mine is a stationary explosive device that can deal immense damage over a large radius, and is triggered by nearby movement. Unlike the Pipe Bomb, it must be placed on the ground and will arm itself after a moment. However, it will not explode from Ethan’s movement, and can even be picked up to be placed again if your target doesn’t move near enough to detonate it.

Like the Pipe Bomb, it can be created with a crafting recipe, and is also found in certain areas, and eventually sold by The Duke.
