Elon Musk Asks Twitter for Ideas for SNL Skits Ahead of His Next Appearance

Elon Musk, the very enterprising mind behind successful tech companies such as Tesla, SpaceX, The Boring Company and Neuralink, appears to have run out of ideas for his next gig on the Saturday Night Live. So, now the billionaire tycoon is asking his more than 52 million Twitter followers to send him skit ideas he should perform on the highly popular television show. He started by pitching some of his own sketch premises. Musk is set to host the show on Sunday (May 8) and he will be joined by musician Miley Cyrus as a guest, according to SNL.

Ahead of his appearance, Musk, who has also spoken about colonising the Moon someday, is crowd-sourcing ideas on social media. The 49-year-old tweeted, “Throwing out some skit ideas for SNL. What should I do?”

Some of his ideas included, “woke James Bond”, “Irony Man”, “The Dogefather”, and “Baby Shark Tank”.

Musk is often credited for the stupendous rise of the Dogecoin. The meme-inspired cryptocurrency began its first major rally in February this year after Musk posted a series of tweets about it. Now, it is again on a frenzied run ahead of Musk’s SNL appearance.

For Irony Man, a spoof on Marvel Comic Universe’s popular superhero character, Breaking Bad actor Daniel Moncada posted a video of Musk’s face juxtaposed on actor Robert Downey Jr’s “Iron Man” character, and said, “We are with you”.

Some Twitter users also took the opportunity to poke him on the financial issues surrounding Tesla of late. Quoth the Raven touched on Tesla’s late financial struggles and said Musk should pretend to be making monetary gains by selling electric vehicles.

How to Get Rid of Reddit’s ‘Open in App’ Pop-Up Dialogue Box

Reddit’s ‘Open in app’ pop-up that appears when you visit its mobile site can be quite annoying. Worst, the company deliberately does not allow users to remove the pop-up by tapping on a close button. It seems like the dialogue box might be helping the company, which is claimed to be “the front-page of the Internet”, to grow its app downloads and usage over time. Naturally, there are a large number of netizens who do not want to see the pop-up, which restricts access to the Reddit site when browsing from a smartphone.

Reddit gives two options to users through the pop-up titled ‘See Reddit in…’ — either to open the Reddit app, which is prominently highlighted on the dialogue box, or continue with your mobile browser by tapping the Continue button. Interestingly, the pop-up appears irrespective of whether you have or do not have the Reddit app installed on your phone. It just takes you to the app store of your phone in the latter case.

Nevertheless, as reported by Android Police, you can disable the annoying pop-up from your mobile browser. Here’s how.

How to disable Reddit’s ‘Open in app’ pop-up

Below are the steps that you can follow to disable Reddit’s ‘Open in app’ pop-up forever.

  1. Visit Reddit’s mobile website or any of its links on your mobile browser.

  2. Hit the Continue button on the ‘Open in app’ pop-up to remove it from the screen.

  3. Tap the three-line/ hamburger menu from the top-right corner of the page.

  4. Press the Settings option from the menu.

  5. Uncheck the box saying ‘Ask To Open In App’.

It is important to note that the aforementioned workaround will only be applicable only if you are not deleting your browser history or visiting Reddit in incognito mode. You will continue seeing the pop-up if you browser app clears the session cookies.

Weekly poll results: the Redmi K40 Gaming looks like a winner

Weekly poll results: the Redmi K40 Gaming looks like a winner

Gaming phones are not for everyone, but last week’s poll shows that if you want one, the Redmi K40 Gaming is a great pick. It stands apart from the rest of the K40 family (itself fairly popular) with a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset replacing the Snapdragons.

It has been on sale in China for a couple of weeks now, it goes for CNY 2,000 ($310 or so), the same price as the vanilla K40. The two share many similarities, including the 120Hz OLED with HDR10+ support.

To improve response times, the gaming phone cranks up the touch sampling rate from 360Hz to 480Hz and includes shoulder buttons – physical ones, rather than capacitive or ultrasonic like some other gaming handsets.

The K40 Gaming also packs beefed up cooling and a larger battery with faster charging (5,065 mAh at 67W, up from 4,520 mAh and 33W). It’s a phone optimized to maintain performance over long stretches of time and to have as short a downtime as possible once it does need to take a rest.

Some were worried about the software – Xiaomi was in hot water with the US government – but that was cleared up earlier this week so Redmis (and other Xiaomi-made devices) shouldn’t have problems running Google software.

Other issues that people pointed are the lack of a headphone jack (wired headphones have lower latency) and a microSD card slot (spare room for all non-gaming content). Unfortunately, there’s nothing to be done about those things (a pricier Black Shark can solve the first half of those issues).

Of course, there are many that just don’t care about gaming phones. And that’s fine, there are three other K40 phones to choose from (not to mention the rest of Xiaomi’s stable). The good news for the company is that very few people would prefer a competing gaming phone.
